Privacy Policy

TL;DR: CacheSweeper doesn't collect, store, sell, or transmit your personal data. Everything the extension does happens locally, in your browser. No accounts, no tracking, no analytics.

What CacheSweeper does

CacheSweeper is a Chrome extension that clears browser storage — HTTP cache, cookies, localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB, CacheStorage, and related data — when you click the toolbar icon or press the keyboard shortcut. All clearing operations run locally through Chrome's built-in APIs. Nothing you browse, type, or store ever leaves your machine through CacheSweeper.

Data we don't collect

  • No browsing history or page content
  • No keystrokes, form data, or passwords
  • No analytics, telemetry, or usage tracking inside the extension
  • No personal information — the free tier doesn't even have a concept of an account

Data stored locally

Your profiles and preferences (which storage types to clear, auto-reload settings, and so on) are saved with Chrome's chrome.storage API. This data lives in your browser. If you've enabled Chrome's built-in sync, Google may sync it across your devices under Google's privacy policy — that's between you and Google; we never see it.

If you purchase Premium, your license key is also stored locally so the extension can validate premium features.

Premium payments

Premium purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. When you buy, Lemon Squeezy collects the information needed to complete the transaction — your name, email address, billing details, and payment method — and handles VAT and receipts. Their handling of your data is described in the Lemon Squeezy privacy policy.

From that transaction, we receive only your email address and license information, which we use solely to deliver and validate your license and to provide support.

This website

This site is served through Cloudflare, which processes visitor IP addresses to deliver and protect the site (see the Cloudflare privacy policy). It uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless, aggregate measurement of page views and load performance that sets no cookies, keeps no client-side identifiers, and does not track you across sites. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts and icons from the jsDelivr CDN — those requests expose your IP address and user agent to the respective CDN, as with any site using them. The site itself sets no cookies. If we add further analytics or advertising measurement, this section will say so.

Permissions, explained

Core

browsingData

The clearing engine. This is the Chrome API that deletes cache, cookies, and storage.

Core

All URLs & scripting

Lets the extension inject a small script that clears in-memory localStorage and sessionStorage on the active tab. It clears data; it never reads it.

Core

notifications

Shows the desktop notification after a clear completes.

Core

contextMenus

The right-click menu for switching profiles.

Core

storage

Saves your profiles and preferences locally.

Premium

alarms

Runs scheduled clears on the timer you set. No data leaves your device.

Premium

idle

Lets the extension clear when your computer goes idle, if you enable that option.

Core

cookies

Counts how many cookies a clear removes so the clear summary and metrics can show it. Counts only; cookie contents are never read.

If a permission isn't needed for clearing, we don't request it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be noted in the extension's release notes.
